Scope and Solution Design

Know what your driveway should cost. Before you call a contractor.

Permeable paver driveway Rain garden Green roof Native plant yard Rain cistern
Planned and pricedbefore anyone visits your home

Start with your address. Results are instant.

Three contractors, three visits, three prices that have nothing to do with each other. We measure your property from above, lay out the project, and tell you what a fair price looks like. Then contractors bid on that, not on a guess.

The problem with quotes

A quote with no plan behind it is a guess with a logo on it.

Ask three contractors to price "a new driveway" and you get three different driveways. Different sizes, different materials, different ideas about where the water goes. None of them is wrong. None of them can be compared.

  • Every contractor wants to come out before naming a price, so you spend three Saturdays waiting at home
  • The prices come back weeks apart and describe different projects
  • Nobody tells you what the rebate program actually requires, so the cheapest bid can be the one that loses you the rebate
  • You have no way to know if $9,000 or $16,000 is a fair price
What you get

Your project, planned and priced, in writing.

It all lives in your incentive file: the measurements, what we propose with a before and after picture, the rules the rebate program requires, what the job should cost, and your rebate estimate right next to it. Contractors can price it without coming out.

  • Virtual site assessment of your actual property
  • Measured scope in square feet, and how we measured it
  • High-level design that meets the rebate program's rules
  • Before and after rendering on your own photo
  • Fair cost estimate so a high bid stands out, and so does a suspiciously low one

What a scope prevents

The expensive mistakes happen before the first shovel.

📐

Building past the cap

Every program has a maximum. Anything you build past it, you pay for yourself. We size the project to that limit and tell you plainly where it is.

💸

Leaving money on the table

The more common mistake: a project that could have gotten the full rebate stops short because nobody thought to include the walkway too.

🧱

The wrong materials

Many programs spell out the materials, down to the stone under the pavers or the plants in the garden. A contractor who does not know that can build you something beautiful that gets no rebate.

💧

Water in the wrong place

Slope, soil and where your downspouts empty decide whether a rain garden works or turns into a pond. We catch that on paper, where it is cheap to fix.

How it works

From your address to real bids, without a single contractor visit.

1
You · instant

Search your address

See what your property qualifies for and pick the upgrade you want. Choose the $150 option to add Scope and Solution Design.

2
Rainplan · days

We assess and measure

A Rainplanner studies your property from aerial and street photos, plus a few photos from you, and may call you for ten minutes about what you want.

3
You · confirm

You review the scope

Your incentive file arrives with the plan, the picture, what it should cost and the rebate math. Change anything you like. Nothing goes out until you say so.

4
Rainplan · Provider Network

Providers bid on it

Your plan goes to vetted contractors who do this exact work, at no cost to you. Bids come back on the same terms, so you compare and choose. Or hand the plan to your own contractor.

Pricing

Two ways to get your project planned.

If your address qualifies for a rebate, the plan comes with your claim. If it doesn't, you can still get the plan on its own. Either way it is one flat fee.

  • Ready to send to vetted contractors for bids, at no cost to you

Check my address

Your address search decides which one you see. The plan and cost estimate are a guide; the actual price comes from the contractor bids you receive. If a program turns down your claim for reasons outside your control, the claim fee comes back in full. Rebate amounts are maximums and depend on the program's approval.

Common questions

Straight answers.

How can you plan my project without visiting?

Most of what matters is visible from above and from the street: property lines, roof size, paved areas, slope, where the downspouts land. We measure from current aerial photos, check against street photos and your own, and ask you the few things only you know. If the job needs eyes on it, the contractor you pick does one visit after you choose their bid, instead of three contractors doing three.

How do you know what the job should cost?

Real prices from contractors who do this work, matched to your project's size, materials and area. It is a range, not a quote, and it is there so you can recognize a high bid and a suspiciously low one.

Is the plan something a contractor can build from?

It shows what, where, how big and to which program rules, with a picture of the result. That is enough for a contractor to bid without visiting and enough for the program's first approval. If a permit needs detailed drawings, the contractor you choose provides them.

Can I get the plan without the rebate claim?

If your address qualifies for a rebate, Scope and Solution Design comes with the claim as the $150 option. If your address has no rebate today, you can get it on its own for $100, and you can still post your project for bids through Provider Match and get competing bids.

What if I want something different from what you propose?

Tell us. The plan is yours to change before you confirm it, and nothing goes to contractors until you do. Different materials, a smaller area, a different corner of the yard: all fine, and we will tell you if a change affects the rebate.

Does this tie me to your contractors?

No. Hand it to your own contractor if you prefer. We include the program's rules so they build it right. If you want competing bids, our Provider Network is there at no cost to you.

How long does it take?

Your incentive file, with the plan inside, is usually ready within days. Bids follow once you confirm, and how fast depends on your area and the season.
